Ad Council

These are my AdCouncil photos.
My photos were based on the campaign called "The Shelter Pet Project", which is designed to inform people that you should adopt shelter animals and not buy ones from breeders.
My slogan is "Start a New Trend, Adopt a Shelter Friend". It is supposed to tell people that adopting animals from a shelter needs to be the new trend.
~One element present is emphasis because the animals are all being emphasized

My pet portrait portrays a happy realtionship between the cat and the human. I added more of a softer effect to the photo so you can get a sense of that happiness.

Zoo Photos

Portrait

Environmental

Pop Art

My zoo photos are composed of three photos - A portrait, an environmental shot, and a pop art image. In the environmental photo, you can really get a sense of the gorilla's environment and you can't tell that it is in a zoo. In the portrait of the giraffe, there are a lot of textures, patterns, and emphasis present. In the pop art image, the flamingo stands out and the colors make the photo a lot more vibrant.

Photo Essay: Cats

The overall theme of my photo essay is cats. I took 6 pictures of my cats and tried to get them in their natural enivornment and capture what they do, such as sleeping, eating, and playing outside. I also took a close up picture so you can see into the eyes of the cat. Through these pictues, you can get an understanding of the daily lives of cats.

Chapel Photo

My best chapel photo is a picture of the Senior seats. You can get a sense of movement/repetiton because of the angle that I took the picture at. You can see all the seats and how they are all the same.

Mercy Street

This is my Mercy Street photo. Since it was raining, I took a picture of Renee and Jana under an umbrella together. It symbolizes the friends at Mercy. I also like how you can get a sense of movement because of the curved lines and the placement of the subject's feet.

Stop Motion

My stop motion project is a video of food that is getting eaten. It is composed of about 30 pictures to make the 14 second video.

Action

This is my action photo.
It is a "frozen in time" picture of the boy jumping in the air trying to catch the basketball.
There is a sense of movement in the photograph since the subject is jumping and there is also emphasis because the background is not distracting and you can focus on the person/object.

Artificial Movement

I photoshopped this image to make it look like there was actual movement in the photo. I lightly burred the background so you can focus on the subject.

Element - Value

This is my element of photography photo.
You can see the value because there are shades of black, white, and gray.
I also captured my cat's tongue right when he was licking his nose, which adds a funny effect to the picture.
~One element is value.
~One principle is emphasis.

Photoshopped Altered Image

This is my photoshopped altered image.
In the original photo, the girl's shirt was actually white, but I photoshopped it and added more of a peach color to it.
I also added a lens flare to the image because it adds a cool effect to the picture, since there is some sunlight in the background, and it seems like the lens flare is actually real.
~One element is color (the shirt)
~One principle is emphasis

Ansel Adams Inspired Photo

This is my Ansel Adams inspired photo.
He took pictures of nature, and this is a picture of an island in the Bahamas that I took.
His photographs are also in black and white- or value (shades of white, gray, and black), hence my photo has shades of white, gray, and black.
~One element present is value because of the shades of white, gray, and black.
~One principle visible is movement because your eye wants to move across the bumps of the island.

Shutter Photo

This is my shutter photo.
I captured the whale and the splash it made right when it was going into the water. I really like this photo because I like the way I caught the water and it was a good shutter photo. :)
~One element visible is texture
~One principle visible is emphasis because mainly the whale and the water are being emphasized.

Photo in the style of Photographer studied

My photo in the style of Dorothea Lange.
Even though Dorothea's photo's are in black and white, I added more of a sepia tone to my image. Dorothea Lange took environemntal pictures, so I tried to get some of the background ("environment") in the photo.
~One element is value
~One principle is emphasis

Self Portrait

This is my self portrait. We could take the picture any way we wanted to, but it had to express our personality. I like to play the guitar, so I took an overhead picture of myself with my guitar.
~One element in the photo is color
~One principle visible is unity

Principle - Balance

This is my principle of photography image.
You can see the emphasis because the dolphin's head/face is being emphasized.
I like this photo because I was able to capture the moment when the dolphin opened its mouth and I was able to photograph only the dolphin and the water and I didn't have to do major editing to it.:)
~One element visible is texture
~One principle is emphasis

My Choice

This photo was my choice, so there weren't any requirements to it,
But what I was trying to do was emphasize the pumpkin and blur out the background.
~One element that is present is texture because you can really see both the rough and smooth surface quality of the pumpkin.
~One principle in this photo is emphasis because the pumpkin your eyes are drawn to the pumpkin first.

Environmental

This is my environmental photo because the baseball player is in his natural environment (playing baseball).
I liked how I captured the image right before he threw the ball, so you almost get a sense of movement.
I also photoshopped the picture to add a cool effect to it :)
~One element visible is texture because now that the image is photoshopped, it has a smooth look to it.
~One principle in the photo is movement because it seems as though the subject is in action.

Best Actor Head Shot

This is my best actor head shot. What we were supposed to do was capture different kinds of emotions from our actor and this photograph is Joy. We also had to play with the lighting in order to emphasize the emotions.
~One element in this photo is value because of the white, grey, and black shades.
~A principle that is present is emphasis because the actor's face is being emphasized.

Scanner Art

This is my scanner art. In the activity, we were supposed to scan various kinds of objects to create a "picture" out of it (Maggie Taylor was our inspiration). I tried to make my scan a Victorian style:) Everyone got to photoshop their scans and this is my finished product!
~One element in this scan is shape
~A principle that is displayed is contrast.

Sunprint

This is my best sunprint. We got a piece of special light blue paper and what we had to do was get some objects that has "shape" to them and make a sunprint image out of it. When we placed the objects on the paper, they made an imprint because the sun only darkened the parts where objects weren't placed.
~One element in my print is shape because of the different shapes of the objects in my print.
~One principle used is color because of the shades of blue.
